The foundation of Van der Heijden Yachts was laid over 50 years ago when a young Ronald van der Heijden was found on the water almost every week with his parents.
His love for sailing has never left him since. After completing his education, Ronald worked for several years at the Royal Navy, where he gained extensive high-tech knowledge.
However, the desire to design and build his own yachts was so strong that Ronald started his own shipyard in his early twenties. The yard quickly established a rock-solid reputation, resulting in the construction of over 400 yachts in the past thirty years.
Averaging one yacht per month, few yards can maintain such continuity over such a long period. Almost all the yachts are still sailing in top condition, proving a valuable investment for decades of sailing pleasure.
Van der Heijden Yachts consists of a compact and close-knit team of specialists employed by the yard. It is very common for someone to be employed for 30 years or longer, with fathers and sons succeeding each other.
This ensures that all expertise and knowledge are kept in-house, but more importantly, your yacht is built by people with a passion for the craft who also bear full responsibility for the final result.
